Bacia Edelman (1925-2009) was a potter-sculptor and attended Black Mountain College in the summer of 1946, where she studied alongside Josef Albers. As a child, Edelman was encouraged by her aunt, who worked at a pottery gallery in Boston, to explore the possibilities of clay in art. After BMC, she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and obtained a Master’s of Fine Arts from New York State College of Ceramics. Her most notable works are her teapots that incorporate her signature lichen glaze. Her work is in the permanent collections of museums such as the Milwaukee Art Museum and Asheville Art Museum, and in numerous private and corporate collections. Bacia Edelman
